Happy bday magaLe...!!

Happy bday magaLe!!! Sometimes, the meaning and closeness the native language brings are irreplaceable. There is no difference between daughter and niece there.

Though the time spent with you is just a few hours in these 5 years, it seems enough to me to cherish for a lifetime. Your playfulness, giggles, energy brings so much joy to each moment. I hear and saw,  you enjoy your (home)work as much as you enjoy everything else; you make it seem like you do everything to express yourself.

You make it seem like you do everything to express yourself.

I am still at awe that, that night, I sang for you with lyrics and tune of my own in no time because you asked. It seemed like, you and I were in a magical world where there is just joy. It still is a happy place I go back to, in my head. From miles away, I still watch you sleep.

From miles away, I still watch you sleep.

Remember, I am and will always be watching you to learn from you. For I know, you always have something to offer me.

As we both grow, I am making myself less judgmental and more accepting, so you know, you can talk to me when you need just that! My wish is, you be so self-sufficient and accepting, that, you never need it!!

Happy Father's Day!

Today being Father’s Day, I was contemplating on the qualities of my father. While so, I wondered at the fact: as a young kid, my father is the one I went to when I was at my lowest. To be honest, he should have been the last person I go to for a solution. His world has always been very small: its limited to his work, prayers, political strategies, his children and that too all he cared was if we had our food, bathed and are healthy. He probably would not be able to relate to issues I was going through. But, he was the one I went to; every-time. I have sat with him, kept my head in his lap and found solutions or felt empowered to face; just being in his presence.
On the contrary, my mother is smart, more familiar and can deal with outside world better. Then, as a kid why I chose my dad over mom at such times? When I think of it now; I probably did not need more drama with someone who gets upset with what has happened. While in pain or have a problem, I need stability. At the moment, …

Ever wondered how to be a GREAT Friend?

During our last trip to India; as part of visits within India, we had a cemetery visit to deceased elders. D, my 5yr old nephew, also had joined us. He is very playful, full of energy(and questions sssshhh..) - we enjoyed his company all along.
When we were at my MIL’s mother’s grave..
D: who is this? MIL: that is my mother baba.. your great grand mother D: my great nani?? MIL: yes, your great nani D: (pointing at the next grave) who is this? MIL read out the name on the grave
D: whose great nani is that?? (😜) MIL: come let us offer flowers here..
Two days later, we were at packing to get back here, and D wanted to extend a helping hand. As part of the action, he had to make sure he knows the why, what and where of what he(thought) was packing. I’m sure you get it, we were looking at 3x behindhand with packing.

Meanwhile, he got busy with making a card for us; oh yes, he had a few questions around: if we plan to keep his card safe and how? We have been successful with preserving the…

After 18 years.....

Out of the bloom, a friend created a Whatsapp group of school friends. It is quite an effort to bring all together, and we all are grateful to her. Once, a few of us got on to the group, we had our generous contribution towards contacts - even one qualifies as "generous". 😀A few are missing, I'm sure we will have them onboard soon.

After a burst of how-are-you's, we made sure we shared our latest pictures with family and know how different/fatter/toned we look after 18 long years. Well, everyone better be married, else, they are in a soup with: what, why-not, how-come questions around marriage. Yes, we still think there is no way-out without marriage. Turns out, we have a few singles in the group, while some are newly wed, new parents, parents with school going kids.

Of course, a lot has changed in each of our lives. It is wonderful to know we are in different professions and contributing in our fields.

While the initial chat, this one guy whom I always thought is b…
